Summer Haircuts

I haven't been able to be around lately, and I sure miss my KITCHEN and my MAN to feed... I did find a WiFi zone and a few minutes to post pics of our haircuts...

Three and a half HOURS!

Remember the "bad-mommy" moment, where I cut my dear, sweet 17 year old's hair, and it did NOT look like the picture?! Well, she used her own money and made me sit with her for

three-and-a-half-hours

of hair color! Goodness gracious! She is now smiling, and having "more fun"...because she is a blonde with a great cut!

I have a great family!

When speaking "love languages" I am not usually the "gift-getting" language, but WOW! I am loving my mother's day gifts!

Daily Life

We do not have a routine life.

I am happy we home school so that our family time is flexible.

My sweet man hands me a glass of iced water.

We take a trip to Duluth to visit an emergency hospitalisation of a parishioner, in a cloudy, rainy road... the road seemed to be tunnel-like with a light at the end. We received a call at 7-ish and got home at 1am... just me and my husband. I was blessed with the time with him, and am always in awe at how God uses him to share HIS grace and care for our congregations. Praying for them day.

I made my sweet daughter sad...

Okay, it is clear, she is beautiful...

She wanted a haircut....

and to save money...

so mommy cut her hair...

instead of the salon...

and it is not at all like the picture she showed me...

I love you Danielle, and your hair!

To be young!

My boys enjoy our visits to a hotel with our family friends (other pastor's families)... one of the things they do every winter is swim for hours in the pool, run outside and roll around in the snow... and then jump into the hot tub... their entire being steaming with the hot/cold surge... I have wanted to share this photo for a while, and just "misplaced" it until now.

Oh, to be so brave!

A popular blogging group... so here goes our menu plan:

1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 egg
1/2 tsp each basil, garlic, and onion

Super Bowl Buffet

This superbowl was spent at our house with great friends. We had some wonderful laughs, a little shouting at the television, some prayerful moments of fellowship, and of course, good food! Thanks be to God!

I used my salvaged-from-the-side-of-the-road oldtimey washing machine as our beverage cooler, with the opened lid as a tea service. Fun. It was easy to drain out the water the next morning... I did place a large trash bag to keep most of the ice in, but wouldn't use that step next time.

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Peppers stuffed with cream cheese... oh my!

My 100th Post!!! And wonderful News...

Okay, so some of you may wonder where Danielle went... playing her sweet violin. I promised her I wouldn't leave her face on my blog for long... so thank you Amy for critiquing her so quickly, I will look forward to your email.

Danielle has been accepted to

Concordia University Chicago
and
Concordia University Wisconsin

YIPPPEE!
Notice to all homeschooling families,
YOU CAN DO IT!

I am very proud of her hard work and am blessed that she is prayerfully considering her options for the 2009 year. I would love another year of her being at home with us, but am so totally excited for her opportunity to live in a city, be part of a community of Lutheran College Kids and grow as a beautiful young lady. Love you Girl!

Yearning...

...hallowed grounds...
What an adventure we have been on to open the coffee and bake house, and how well it has been received! We certainly have met awesome families who have blessed us with great conversation and some theological debate. This is a great meeting place for community and such, but goodness how this mommy yearns for those "home days".
.
.
.
My sweet children are with me daily, they "coffeehouse school" and we all work together in the business, which has been a learning experience that we will cherish...yet I know my calling is in the HOME.
.
.
.
How hard it is to be a help-meet to my sweet pastoral husband,
how hard it is to manage a home from afar,
how hard it is to meal plan, how hard it is to prepare nutritious foods,
how hard it is to take care of my self,
how hard it is serve God in the church,
how hard it is to show the gift of hospitality,
how hard it is...
how hard it is...
.
.
.
January is typically spent in my home planning. Planning for spiritual goals, finances, health, homeschooling, and such.
.
.
.
Confession:
My Household Management Book is in shambles! (picture following) Which is just what I am feeling inside right now.
.
.
.
So to begin I pray:
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
This is what a household notebook can consist of:
.
.
.
.
Less of Me-More of Him
The Virtuous Woman
(and ours, which will be posted as soon as I can find that little plug thingy for my digicamera!)
.
.
.
I am seeking counsel in HIS precious Word and will post both the notebook re-vamp as well as my thoughts and future concerning these things...
